Reform School

Jim Billman has over twenty years of teaching experience in public schools in Iowa and Kentucky at both the secondary and post-secondary levels.  He holds a baccalaureate from the University of Northern Iowa, a Master's in Teaching from the University of Wisconsin - Superior, and has completed over 30 hours toward a Doctorate in Administration and Management of Higher Education from the University of Iowa.  His twenty plus years include three "burn-out" times when, in scrutinizing self-analysis, he could no longer function in good faith within the system as a public school educator with the belief that his contribution was beneficial to his students.

As a writer, Mr. Billman has contributed to several periodicals, written curriculum and course guides, worked as a technical writer and written a column for a local newspaper  for four years.  He has been married to his wife, Karen for 42 years; they have two married daughters and five grandchildren.  In addition, Mr. Billman  is the owner of a small construction business and has served his country as an infantry officer in Vietnam.

A from-the-heart compilation gathered from the experiences and ruminations of a dedicated teacher who has moved in and out of public education and lived a life built on the principles in which he believes.
